The Environmental Entrepreneurship Program (EEP) is the part of the NOAA Educational Partnership Program which provides funding to eligible Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) to attract under represented students to pursue academic study, careers and entrepreneurship opportunities in the NOAA sciences. On January 22, 2004, Mr. Wauna Dooms of the North Carolina Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) spoke to the students of ECSU regarding business opportunities in North Carolina. He also spoke about the steps needed to acquire a business and many of the pitfalls along the way.

The North Carolina SBTDC helps small business owners (and those interested in starting a business) meet the challenges of today's business environment, manage that ever-changing world, and plan for the future of their business. They do this by providing management counseling and educational services to small and mid-sized businesses throughout North Carolina from their 17 offices across the state — each affiliated with a college or university. Their mission is to help North Carolina businesses grow and to create new jobs within the state.
