Creating Climate Change Lessons for K-2 Learning using the Technology Integration Planning Model (TIP Model-Phase III)

Mentor: Mr. Ervin M. Howard, EDUC 203

Description: The preservice students of EDUC 203-02 have completed the development of climate change lessons based on a thematic unit of study involving the investigation of oceanic phytoplankton blooming in the North Atlantic region. These lessons are designed to promote inquiry-based learning and awareness of K-2 students in understanding climate change parameters (e.g., carbon, sunlight, water temperature, ocean nutrients, and chlorophyll) over time that affect phytoplankton blooming. The preservice students have composed a lesson plan and a hypermedia (webquest) product for each climate lesson. Each webquest contains media links, a rubric, and outline of pedagogical standards that support the climate change lessons. A lesson plan that depicts each of five parameters can be found in the teacher page section of each webquest.

Phase III is the last component of the Tech-PACK that identifies the preservice students reviewing the lesson designs and technology integration strategies in promoting successful learning.
